"Doc" Howe's shingle

Edmund James Glanville ("Doc") Howe went into private practice at Tarcutta, near Wagga Wagga, NSW, arriving there on the day of the twenty sixth consecutive frosts in July 1927. This brass plaque was probably acquired when he commenced practise in Tarcutta.

He moved to Rylstone in 1937 and I remember it being on the western facing surgery door at the weatherboard building which consisted of a waiting room, surgery, X-ray room and a testing room. When the weatherboard building was demolished, a brick building was erected with its entrance on the northern side where the brass plaque spent its last 14 or so years.
