Australian Federal Constitution - Federation Referendum 1898

Polling Day, Friday, 3rd June 1898

Up to the time of Federation in 1901, Australia was made up of six independent colonies. This poster provides polling day information for the Referendum which asked the people of NSW if they were in favour of joining the other colonies to form the Federation of Australia.

This referendum was unsuccessful in NSW.

This poster is significant to local history, showing the broad boundaries of the Rylstone Electorate at this time.
