The school was temporarily closed until Mr. Robert Kersley was appointed in March, 1878. Like his two predecessors, Mr. Kersley had had no training or experience as a teacher, but as a local man he was acceptable to the people of Coomber, and he was to teach there until his retirement in 1901.
In 1901 Mr. Kersley retired, after being in charge of Coomber School for nearly 23 years
